Round Britain Powerboat Race

Billed as the Biggest and Toughest Powerboat Race in the world, this is the story of the Mount Everest of all powerboat racing. In June 2008, more than 40 boats circumnavigated the British coastline calling at nine cities around the UK; at stake was the reputation of some of the world?s best known powerboat racers as they pitted their prowess against guest celebrities and first timers alike. It required serious planning and financial commitment just to get to the Start Line and even more to get around the 1,600 miles course along Britain?s beautiful coastline. All those taking part needed a huge amount of support: land based teams, marine engineers, spare parts, lots and lots of fuel and stacks of cash. This documentary looks back at the race itself plus the people who gambled everything to make it happen. Featuring in the race are powerboat racers from around the world including Italy, Austria, Scandinavia, Greece, Britain and Germany.
