Etienne Lomel is in terrible physical condition. He is breathless after walking up stairs, visibly losing weight, and always tired and apathetic. He gradually becomes convinced that his wife Louise is trying to poison him and starts to entertain suspicions about the death of her first husband, Guillaume. But could it be that Etienne, provoked by his intense and seemingly reciprocated love for Louise, is only fantasising? But if he is, why is Louise receiving mysterious phone call? Has he been imagining them as well? In a quest for answers Etienne reaches out to his doctor for more thorough tests, but will the truth set him free?
